I realize I haven't posted on here in a

ges. Jerry is being a great example and getting things done and actually using our blog.

I have been showing quite a bit around Nashville this year. They have been smaller group shows with some friends but it has been very nice to have deadlines again. Other than that I have been looking forward to graduate school, trying to make future decisions, have a full time job and make artwork.

Heres a photo of my bulletin board in my studio. The two animals in the top right corner are what I have been working on this morning. I am planning on cutting these sort of animal puppets out in LARGE multiples and hanging them all together in a group with framed artwork possibly? They are really just something I had been thinking about how to construct alot lately and figured it was time to try it out.

Been thinking about bears alot lately too. Not sure why.

I decided last night that I need to start being serious about my grad school research. Until now I have flirted with the idea, gotten lots of pretty packets in the mail, but haven't made any serious commitment about looking at the pros and cons of each program. 

Since I know a few people are here are gradschool experienced, any suggestions about how I should go about making decisions would be extremely helpful. 

I think I want my grad degree to be in Printmaking/Book Arts/Papermaking but I want a school that has a working letterpress area. I'm also interested in Museum Studies....so....I need to make up my mind and.or figure out how to do ALL of that at once. If I'm going back to school, I'm definitely planning on making it worth it. (obviously)

Maybe this isn't REALLY following blog rules, but its related.

I also recently made a beautiful art aquisition. I traded the wonderful Bryce McCloud of Isle of Printing for his handcarved, 18x24, 4 color, Gillian Welch poster. See here at a Prints Gone Wild Exhibition: 

I'm making work for a book exhibit, working on our sketchbook exchange, and making work for a print show in Colorado. Hope everyone else is doing just as well!

Re-thinking, Re-doing, Re-working. . .

As it turns out, graduating from college means you start reinventing yourself. I think Jerry and Ann can probably agree with me on this.

Once you have your BFA show, its as if that body of work, that thought process is over. As much as you try and go back and tie off loose ends, it doesn't seem to work. Everything starts changing pretty rapidly with you just trying to catch up and make art that reflects what is going on.

Yet, I know I am in a place that is beautiful and new and strange all at the same time. I don't have anyone to make me make anything (One reason we started this blog.) Still I know my life doesn't feel right without using my ability to create. I get to start over knowing I've already succeeded and I have other great artists to support me. (thank you peers, students, teachers, professionals, etc.) That, my blog readers, is really wonderful and something to take advantage of.

So, here is our blog as alumni of Murray State's Art Dept.
I am really excited to see how things progress.
